Board-level repairs.
Beyond a parts swap.
Specialist diagnosis and microsoldering for business repair batches. WJD’s Doncaster operation assesses board-level faults on supported mobile phones, tablets and games consoles, with repair decisions linked to the device and your approval.
Discuss board-level repairsWhat is board-level repair?
Board-level repair investigates faults on a device’s main circuit board, rather than assuming a complete screen, battery or housing replacement will solve the problem. Microsoldering can be part of the repair where a connector, component or board connection needs work. Diagnosis comes first: similar symptoms can have different causes.
For a business customer, the decision is both technical and commercial. The proposed work needs to make sense for the device, the fault, the expected result and the approved repair cost. We separate the assessment from the authorisation to proceed.
Which faults should you send for assessment?
Examples to discuss include no-power symptoms, charging problems that remain after appropriate component checks, damaged board connectors and console port faults. A device that does not start may have a battery, charging, display or board problem. Do not describe every no-power device as a confirmed motherboard failure.
Provide the exact model, symptom, fault history and any previous repair attempts. Mention known liquid exposure, physical damage or missing components. That information helps define the inspection rather than repeating work already carried out.
Phones, tablets and games consoles
Ask about iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, iPad and other supported device models. For PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo work, include the console version and the behaviour you have observed. Support is confirmed against the specific device and fault, not inferred from the brand alone.
A batch can contain different models and repair routes. Every unit needs its own reference so quotations, approvals and the final outcome remain traceable. We can discuss specialist board work separately or within a wider mobile, tablet or console repair programme.
How a business repair batch progresses
Identify
Provide your device references, models and reported faults. Agree the receiving site and intake requirements before shipping.
Assess
The technical assessment identifies the proposed repair route and any limitations, with quotations and approval points agreed for your programme.
Authorise
Work proceeds within the agreed scope. Additional findings or a change in the commercial decision come back for review where required.
Repair and check
Complete the approved work and relevant final checks. Unresolved faults and devices not repaired remain clearly identified.
Return and reconcile
Match the outcome and dispatch details to your original device references. Discuss WJD OS when you need an agreed system-to-system connection.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the model mix, quantities, symptoms, previous work and whether this is a one-off batch or regular outsourcing. Include your target outcome and any limit beyond which a repair needs separate approval.
Please do not send device passcodes, account passwords or personal customer data in the website form. Account locks and data-handling requirements need an agreed process; board work is not an offer to remove ownership locks or recover personal data.
Practical questions.
Is board-level repair the same as a screen replacement?
No. Screen replacement changes an assembly. Board-level diagnosis investigates the electronics and connections on the main board. The initial assessment determines which route is appropriate.
Can you support another repair or refurbishment business?
Yes. Tell us which models and faults you want to outsource, the quantity and whether work is recurring. We agree intake, authorisation, testing and return arrangements around the programme.
Is every device repairable?
No repair outcome can be promised before assessment. Some devices have multiple faults or damage that makes further work unsuitable. Agree how those outcomes and any assessment charges are handled before sending the batch.
