Trade-in programme support

Your trade-in scheme.
Our operational
support.

Receiving the device is only the beginning. WJD helps businesses assess, grade, repair and prepare traded-in devices for their next use, with the commercial responsibilities agreed from the start.

The work behind your trade-in offer

A trade-in is a promise.
The processing has to work.

An offer on a website is one part of the programme. The operational work starts when the device arrives: matching it to the record, assessing the condition and deciding what happens next.

Support for your scheme, not a consumer valuation tool.

This service is for businesses running or planning a trade-in programme. It is not an instant offer to buy an individual customer’s device.

01

Intake & reconciliation

Agree shipment references, device identifiers and the receiving site. Match incoming devices to the expected list and identify missing, additional or inconsistent items.

02

Testing & condition assessment

Define the functional checks and grading criteria your programme needs. Keep the customer’s declared condition separate from the assessment findings.

03

Exceptions & repair decisions

Agree what happens when condition differs, a device is locked or a fault is found. Your valuation and customer-acceptance rules guide the next step.

04

Refurbishment & stock preparation

Route suitable devices into agreed repair or cosmetic work, complete the required checks and prepare them for return to your stock or another agreed onward route.

Choose your starting point

Already running?
Or building something new?

Start with the operational work you need. We will work through the ownership, decisions and handovers with you.

01 / AN EXISTING SCHEME

Keep your customer journey.
Strengthen the processing.

You already have offers, customers and a trade-in process. Tell us where you need capacity or specialist support, from intake and grading to refurbishment and stock handover.

02 / A NEW PROGRAMME

Design the operation
before the first device arrives.

Work through accepted models, assessment standards, exception decisions and onward stock routes. Define who owns the customer journey, funds payments and carries the stock.

One device, a defined next step

Make the handovers
part of the plan.

Build the operating process around your customer journey, rather than leaving exceptions to be resolved after stock arrives.

  1. 01

    Receive

Reconcile the physical device against the programme reference and expected intake.

  2. 02

    Test & grade

Assess function and condition against the agreed standards. Record discrepancies.

  3. 03

    Decide

Apply your valuation and acceptance rules. Escalate exceptions and obtain required approvals.

  4. 04

    Refurbish

Carry out the approved repair and preparation work on suitable devices.

  5. 05

    Return or remarket

Reconcile the output and follow the agreed stock ownership and onward-supply arrangement.

Operational support or stock purchase?

Be clear about
who owns what.

A programme works best when its responsibilities are clear. These are the details we will work through with you.

Processing your devices

You retain the stock under the agreed arrangement. WJD provides the selected intake, testing, refurbishment and handover services.

A separate WJD purchase

Where WJD is buying the devices, purchase terms, acceptance, valuation and transfer of ownership need a separate agreement.

Customer-facing responsibilities

Agree who sets offers, handles revised valuations, communicates with customers and makes payments. Processing support does not automatically include these services.

Technology & logistics

Agree labels, transport, data exchange, erasure requirements and receiving sites. A partner-branded website is a separate scoping discussion, not an included ready-made product.

UK and Ireland operations provide different routes. Confirm the receiving site, applicable processes and onward movement before shipping.

Connect the handovers, not just the shipments.

Talk to us about the records and updates your programme needs. WJD OS supports agreed repair-workflow integrations; trade-in valuation, payments and customer journeys require their own scope.

A few useful
answers.

Have a specific process or technical requirement? Talk it through with the team.

Talk to WJD
Can you support an existing trade-in scheme?

Yes. Start with the operational stages you need help with, your expected device mix and how information moves through the scheme. We will agree which services WJD takes on.

Can you help us plan a new programme?

We can work through the operational requirements, including intake, assessment, refurbishment and stock handover. The customer journey, valuation rules, payments and technology responsibilities must also be agreed.

Does WJD have to buy the stock?

No. Processing a partner’s devices and purchasing those devices are different arrangements. Tell us which model you need.

Do you provide a ready-made branded trade-in website?

Not as part of the standard processing service described here. A branded customer journey or additional software would be a separate project to scope.

Are data erasure and certification included?

Tell us the data-handling, erasure and evidence requirements before devices arrive. These must be agreed explicitly; this page does not promise a particular certification.

Let’s work through
your trade-in operation.

Tell us whether the scheme is running or being planned, what devices you expect and which stages you need WJD to handle.
